Re: objects_for_Sims2 OT Junk Mail - THIS is not Junk Mail, its a query about it

That Ask Leo is a great site!  Ok, so i figured out from there that what is happening to me is called "spoofing" where the spammer LIES about where the email is coming from - tsk tsk tsk.  They haven't hacked me, they are just using my account name in the "from" section.  How do they do this? Dunno.  How do i stop it?  I can't.  So it's annoying but not dangerous, unless i actually followed any links in the things - NOT going to happen.

Since it doesn't seem to be happening to anyone on my contact list, it seems that the spammer was targetting me, thinking i'd be curious enough to open one.  Ok i was, but i didn't follow the link.  I can't report it as spam coz i'd be reporting myself, just have to delete them as they arrive.

That site is definitely worth a stroll around, and each article has related links at the bottom of it.

Thank you all for your help *smiles*  The end result, i've tightened the security of my email account and found out what is happening - life is good!

Sounds like you've picked up a virus or worse. Run a virus scan.
You need to install and run a good anti-virus/malware and use an ad block. In fact I would use several of the free anti virus downloads you can get, some seem to catch what others don't. I also use "spybot search & destroy" also free.
You may want to warn your friends. Any of the mail sent using your address could be infected.

Ok, i seem to be sending junkmail to myself??????  I'm in my own addressbook so i can BCC the other names if i mass-send out a joke.

So my question is... has anyone received junkmail from me??? and if you have... how the hell did this happen?  It means someone has hijacked my addressbook, obviously, but i don't know how or how to stop it.  Please let me know, and i stress its not coming from "me" but some weird hijack thing.  Nevertheless, if it is happening, i apologise.
