Sharon, I have talked to them at GameStop here (Kentucky) and they said that is wasn't for online playing, it was just like the other sims games

hastings here where i live said that it will be the first week of march they have the empty boxs so you can preorder it says the requirements are mainly for on line play and has to be re registered every few months .(i live in texas)
