Do you mean your sims are getting cold inside the house? They shouldn't do that, have you patched your game for seasons? Sometimes Maxis houses are poorly built and the sim thinks there is no roof.
You could also buy a heater from the catalog.
There may be a cheat for keeping the fires going, or hacked fireplaces, but I don't know of any off hand and don't feel like searching.
